Chapter 1.0 Prolouge

The fire crackled as the young man stood up to speak. The many fires lit up the clearing and showed nearly a hundred faces looking up at him. The man had glowing blue eyes, and called himself Seleucus, from the family of the Willow. He stood up straight and proud, perhaps a little to proudly.

A beautiful girl to the back of the clearing looked up at the man with awe in her eyes. She had always loved this man from afar, and she leaned forward to hear what he was saying. Her name was Barsine from the family of the River. Her almost black eyes held a sparkle to them as she watched the man get ready to speak.

Seleucus felt nervous as he began, he had acted on impulse and was beginning to regret his actions. He cleared his throat and raised his hand as the custom was before speaking. "I am standing before you today, to announce my plans to leave my village and create a new village. Anyone who wants to join me may." He shuffled nervously waiting for someone to raise their hand to join him. He saw a girl at the back slowly raise her hand and stand up. "I will", she called.

An old man sat beside his daughter and watched the pretty woman with the strange black eyes stand up. Those eyes he thought, so dark like the Others,no he said she was not like the Others. This village he thought would need an elder, and as far as elders went he was one of the most respected of all the villages. Maybe it would be a good idea, especially if he could take Leptine. He slowly raised his hand, and stood up. "My daughter Leptine and I will also join", he called.

Leptine looked up at her father surprised, she couldn't understand why he would leave the village that loved him. Its me she thought nobody liked her because she was so clumsy and she knew it broke her fathers heart. She stood up next to her father nodding. It seemed the family of the Meadow was leaving to.

Another young man looked around, and couldn't believe that the great elder Arisatnder was joining. If hes joining he thought I have to everybody knows that man brings good luck. The man raised his hand, and tried not to look at the jagged scar running down it. Another way the Others make sure I remember them he thought bitterly. He stood up and said, "I to shall join." He was Peritas of the family of the Cave.

Seleucus couldn't believe his luck that he had got a great elder to join. He hadn't expected it,no man ever does not on their first try at starting a village. It was forbidden to start a village without an elder and Seleucus hadn't actually thought he could now he started to worry. Nobody else put their hand up and Seleucus stepped down, tomorrow he would meet with his future villagers.

The day of leaving had finally arrived, and Leptine's nervousness didn't help her clumsiness. She was taking extra long to pack and frankly it was embarrassing. She picked up her fish bone necklace, it was from her mother. The Others had killed her and the necklace was all she had left. Aristander watched his daughter and couldn't help but feel sorry for her as she again tripped and dropped everything she was carrying. It was good they were leaving. Even having a great elder for her father didn't stop the teasing.

Barsine packed quickly, and ran to help Seleucus pack, after all a man shouldn't be packing his own bag. She felt even more in love with Seleucus now she had meet him and didn't regret her choice. Seleucus watched the woman pack and felt happy it was about time he had a beautiful woman admire him. The hot-tempered, mean-spirited young man, didn't feel so nervous anymore.

Peritas sat packed and ready looking at the road ahead of him, they would find a home, build their huts and then head on a journey. They must go to Eygpt only in the ancient land of Eygpt was they gem they required which would bring good luck to their new home.

All five of them stood ready as the other villagers headed back to their homes. The five on the other hand looked out to a new horizon, to begin what the villagers called the impossible journey. To unpathed waters, undreamed shores...
